Tales of Potty Training

We have been potty training this week. We have not worn diapers since Thursday and we have only worn pull-ups during naps and at bed time, and at church. So far we have had one accident Thursday morning and we had a little pee in the pull-up after church. ( We are not brave enough to tell our nursery teacher we need to go) I am so impressed at how well this is going so far. We had given Kevin a mindset that when we got home from Grandma and Grandpas house we would be too big for diapers. He seems to have had enough time to process this because he is doing awesome! I do have a funny video of the boys and some of it has to do with potty training.

Adam is my technically advanced one. He can turn the tv on with the remote, Kevin can't do that, but Adam is good at pushing all the buttons where Kevin gives up after just a second. Also as seen in the video Adam can remove cd's from the cd player. He is like a little squirrel with a treasure when he gets them, it is so funny.

A New Do

So, many people have already seen my new hair but an equal number of people that I know have not. So as per requests I am putting it out there. Don't laugh at my picture... I love my new hair cut and color and I love how it makes me feel less like frumpy mom of two and more like spunky mom of two...

Scaredy Cat or Thrill Seeker

Well we made it home last night, a little bit exhausted but in one piece. But we had such fun in Tennessee. Kevin is the big story here, about 3 days into our vacation we had an encounter with a cat. My parents have two super friendly cats, they are the super cuddly kind. This being said, they like to sleep with people whenever they can. One somehow made it into Kevin's room one night and scared the living daylights out of him. After the third night he would not sleep in his room unless I stayed there until he fell asleep and if he was made to take a nap during the day without mom he would need to be placed in the crib for safety. It was terrible, I couldn't believe it. He was just scared to death that cat would come in and wake him up again. That was an interesting curve ball to our trip... But he is not a scaredy cat all the time we were able to go to Dollywood twice while we were out there, all my family get free passes from work. At Dollywood, Kevin was the thrill seeker he rode every ride he could. He even put his hands up on the veggie tales roller coaster, I didn't even do that... He must get this side of himself from his dad... He even rode rides that no one could ride with him because we were too tall. I even got a little teary eyed at my little tiny big boy.

1. Kevin and Grandpa on roller coaster 2. Kevin rides alone 3. the Coal train which was so exciting because it was so loud.

1. Aunt Rachie and Kevin (She will be married with two kids in January...she opted for the insta-family) 2. Aunt Jessie will also have a family in January as little baby will be coming then. 3. Begging for Watermelon from Grandma.

It was so fun to see all the fam, except sis, in San Diego, (she had a freak accident where she sprained her ankle the morning she was supposed to fly out, we missed her bunches)

We had fun but are very glad to be home where naps are regular and so is bed time.

On our Way!

Today has been a fun filled day of last minute apartment stuff, last minute shopping and oh yeah...Packing, because I procrastinated. We are off to Tennessee tomorrow early. We will be visiting our family out there. I have to disagree with Brooke here, I would NEVER move back east. I think maybe I had a different experience growing up there than Brooke, though. I know the housing is so much cheaper, but then you have to live there. I love visiting my family but I love leaving the humidity, bugs, and small towniness ( I know, not a word) to come home too. It will be me and the little boys going it alone this time, as usual, But we are looking forward to a fun time. we are planning on going to Dollywood. I am excited to see Kevin's take on the giant coal train they have there. I may or may not be updating this it depends on how our days go. I plan on swimming in the pool all day everyday unless I am forced to venture from the house to go shopping (which would not be that forced). so, friends, I look forward to seeing you all when we return in a week or so.

Here's the world I am living in today, I am a little overwhelmed. I still have 4 loads of laundry to do and the odds and ends of packing for small children, then I can continue packing clothing when the laundry is done...

Adam keeps unpacking things any chance he gets, he is always full of surprises!!

Small Thought, Go Joshua!!

I am so excited that Joshua won on so you think you can dance. I think he is really good and totally deserved the win. Imagine what he could do with some training...

Balboa Lake Playground

I recently checked out the Balboa Lake playground that recently was finished and it is awesome. We have gone a few times already in the last week. I find myself there really early but my kids are up early so it doesn't much matter. It can get crowded, but between 8-9 when we are there it is pretty much us. But it had fun stuff for the kids to do. It has drums and a swaying boat and rolling slides and ropes to climb on and tons and tons more. So this is my push for this playground it is really fun. Here are some pics of my kids enjoying it.

From Yardage to Duvet in 3 hours

I am so excited I made a duvet cover, I know, I know it is a giant pillow case. But it is fun fabric and it looks cool in my room...and I made it. Thanks to Inspiration and advise from Michelle Barty it turned out great. It went pretty fast the longest time was spent on pinning and cutting and dealing with mass amounts of fabric. it takes about 11 yards of fabric for a queen. the project cost me $22 plus tax. But it totally gave my room an update and covered my comforter which was a cheap one that immediately started falling apart upon putting it on the bed :( . In all, a fun project and way more cost effective than buying at the store.

So You Think You Can Dance

I am very sad that Chelsea was kicked off last night. She was my favorite. She is awesome. I knew Mark was going but I was a little surprised by Chelsea as I thought it would have been Courtney. Don't get me wrong I like Courtney and I loved Mark and Courtney's Jazz routine this week, I just think Chelsea was more interesting to watch than Katee and Courtney. Now I actually hope Courtney does better than Katee, but in the long run I am a Josh fan. Can't wait for next week!!
